For those of you interested in learning to knit, here is a list of
things to bring to get started. This will allow you to begin knitting
and make one project (hat).
Starter items:
- One skein Paton’s Plymouth Encore Worsted weight yarn any color
- 1, size 8 (5mm), 16″ circular needle or 1 set size 8 (5mm) straight needles
(the circular will be needed for the actual project and is recommended)
Project items:
Starter items (including circular, not straight needles) PLUS…
- 1 set size 8 (5mm), 7″ double pointed needles
- 1 set stitch markers
Notions to buy or borrow:
Plastic needle
Small scissors
Measuring tape
Row counter
Find your LYS (local yarn store) using Knit Map – http://www.knitmap.com/map
The yarn listed here is recommended because is it cheap and washable, but any worsted weight yarn can be used to start. Please let me know if you have questions or need assistance with your purchase.
